Skookum Kids, an organization located in Bellingham, has been working to maintain a safe and healthy foster care system in our state for over a decade. Their reach stretches not only across Whatcom county, but throughout the entire state. From providing emergency shelter, to certifying foster parents, to reconnecting kids with their biological family, they work tirelessly to serve youth in times of great need. Over 40 employees, and many more volunteers at Skookum Kids, directly see the positive impact this organization has on our kids and communities. Funding comes primarily from the private sector through generous donations from individuals, service organizations, and a few annual fundraising opportunities. Lynden Breakfast Kiwanis is proud to be one of those supporters for such a worthy cause.Â
