So what is this one-week camp with 71 campers and 55 counselors? Oh, and the 71 doesn’t include the volunteers who help with all matter of kitchen duties, laundry, and fire watch which has nothing to do with fires! This adventure is called Camp Casey.
Katie from Camp Casey!
The Lynden Morning Kiwanis recently hosted Kate, a longtime volunteer with Kiwanis Camp Casey. For almost eight decades, this summer camp has provided an opportunity for children with physical disabilities – which is why 55 counselors are required – to gather for a week of campfires, sports, skits, themed meals, and so much more. It’s no wonder campers and volunteers refer to camp as “the best week of the year!” Camp Casey 2025 will be in full swing from July 27th to August 2nd at Lions Camp Horizon in Blaine.
This year, over 70 kids between the ages of 6 and 17 will get to experience the fun, all free of charge thanks to generous funding from the Seattle North Central Kiwanis Club. The camp organizers are aiming for 55 volunteers to keep the camp running smoothly and safely.
The Lynden Breakfast Kiwanis is proud to support Camp Casey with a financial gift and looks forward to sending volunteers to help out this year. If you are interested in serving, please visit Camp Casey’s volunteer webpage to apply!
